This program brings together the top minds from government and industry to discuss the Cybersecurity challenges currently facing the IT industry as well as what the future may bring in terms of new developments in cyber defense, privacy and information assurance.

The Speakers:

Christopher Hetner
Chris is the Senior Advisor to the Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman on Cybersecurity. In this role he is responsible for leading efforts across the agency to address cybersecurity policy, uplifting the SEC’s internal cybersecurity capabilities, engaging with external stakeholders and further enhancing the SEC’s mechanisms for assessing broad-based market risk. Chris is also a leading member of the US Treasury Financial Banking Information Infrastructure Committee where he provides leadership across a range of cybersecurity programs impacting the financial services sector. Chris has over 25 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance. Prior to his current role he led Cybersecurity for the Technology Control Program within the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations. He joins the SEC from Ernst and Young (EY) where he led the Wealth and Asset Management Sector Cybersecurity practice. At EY, his team advised and delivered cybersecurity and risk management capabilities across major financial services firms. In addition to leading the practice, Chris served as a senior advisor to a wide range of corporate directors and executive management.
Prior to joining EY he was the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at GE Capital where he was responsible for building and leading the global Cybersecurity program. He led a global organizational cybersecurity uplift that significantly improved GE Capital’s risk posture.

John Summers VP & Chief Technology Officer

John oversees the security and technology strategy for Akamai’s web security and web performance solutions.  He is a frequent speaker on the topics of Internet threats, enterprise security and the digital transformation of enterprise infrastructures to become more secure and resilient in the cloud-first, SaaS-first, mobile-first world we live in today.
Prior to his current role, John led the development Akamai’s Enterprise Security and Web Security products which consist of cloud-based threat protection, identity and access management, web application security and DDoS defense services that leverage Akamai’s unique distributed computing platform to provide a global layer of security that scales on demand. John is a patent holder on Akamai’s distributed web application firewall technology.
John joined Akamai to manage the Web Acceleration products from 2007 until 2011, during which time that business grew 30 fold.
Prior to Akamai, John led Managed Security Services businesses at Unisys and at Genuity.
John holds degrees in physics and computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.  He was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team and a three time U.S. National Ice Dance Champion.

Matthew Lagana, CISSP Chief Information Security Officer at MBIA Inc.
Matt Lagana is an IT Director and Chief Information Security Officer for MBIA, Inc and serves as chair of MBIA’s Enterprise Security Council. His responsibilities include protection of MBIA’s network and computing infrastructure – including cyber, mobile computing, security policy, regulatory compliance, planning and architecture. Mr. Lagana’s twenty year career began with Avon Products, where he held several security positions of increasing responsibility leading to managing the company’s Global Information Protection practice. In 2001, he joined MBIA as the firm’s first Chief Information Security Officer. Matt has subject matter expertise in Information Security and Risk Management, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, Corporate Governance, Operational Risk, Audit / Compliance, and Technology Infrastructure and Operations.
Matt has wide-ranging experience in building strong internal control frameworks and aligning them with organizational needs and requirements. He has had a keen focus in the area of Cybersecurity and creating multi-tiered Security Architectures, including being an early champion and adapter of next generation ‘behavioral’ based security technologies.
Mr. Lagana is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2002 and holds a Master’s degree in Management & Systems from NYU with a concentration in Strategy and Leadership.
